Now or Never

{April 14, 2010}   Day 3

I sit here writing this while watching The Biggest Loser.  I love this show. I actually would love to be on this show. I have, for a very long time now, wanted to train with Jillian. Honestly, I would love to train with either Jill or Bob, as both would be able to impart so much knowledge about the lifestyle I want.

I haven’t watched every season of this show, but I have watched a lot of them. And while I have fell in love with some contestants before, this season is different. This seasons cast is different. They aren’t about the games like some of the other seasons in the past have been. These contestants have been an inspiration and an encouragement to me. They are what pushes me at the gym even when I don’t think I can do it anymore. I think “if they can do it, so can I.”

And today I did! Even though I am up 1 pound from yesterday, I know that this is a process, and things will get better. But today I did everything I could to make it better. I made it to the gym and did 30 strong minutes on the elliptical. I did my strength training from my book, as well as my Biggest Loser workout. I also got in my 22min walk, even though it was raining and I had to improvise and walk around the house, but hey it worked! And I came in under calories!

Here’s hoping tomorrow is just as good.

And Go Grey Team!!

{April 13, 2010}   Productive Day 2

So, today started with a little disappointment.  I set my alarm to go to the gym, and hit snooze….and didn’t actually make it to the gym. But that is not to say that I didn’t exercise. I was determined not to let one slip up ruin my whole day. So after breakfast, I loaded Mikayla into the wagon and went for a 20 minute walk.

Back in January, when I started this whole thing, I bought two books that had 30 day plans. One was The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start. This is a great book. Not only does it give you a 30 day work-out plan (gym free by the way) it gives you a 30 day meal plan. I am not following the meal plan, just the exercise plan. My food situation is a little different than most, seeing as I don’t buy the food for the house. I kind of just have to go with what is there. The other book I have is Smart Girls DO Dumbbells. This book has 30 days worth of strength training with, well dumbbells. Both books workout are about 30 minutes long. I did both of the today as well.

Today I felt off all day. I didn’t have a headache, and I didn’t feel sick, just not 100%. So I am surprised that I did so much. But happy at the same time. I just kept telling myself I had to.

Day 2 Stats

Weight: 256.4 at 7:40am

Difference: -3.2 pounds

Exercise: 20 minute walk, 30 minute strength, 30 minute Biggest Loser workout

Total Calories Burned: 668

Total Calories Consumed: 1,997…that’s 197 over my 1800 goal.

Cups of Water: 8 and 16oz of Diet Root Beer

It’s my life, It’s now or never, I ain’t gonna live forever, I just wanna live while I’m alive

In January I, like many, resolved to have this be the year I lost weight. Unlike most people, I wasn’t trying to lose 10, 20, or even 30 pounds.  You see, as of today I weigh 259.6 pounds. I want to weigh 120 pounds. Therefore I am trying to lose 139.6 pounds. In case you didn’t know, that is a lot of weight to lose.

So here it is April, a full four months into this new year. I signed up for a gym membership in January. And as a paying member I can honestly report, that as of today, I have stepped foot into that gym a grand total of 3 times since I signed up. Yep, a whooping 3 times! It was on trip number 2 that I had my revelation. My friend Chrissy was visiting and suggested we go to the gym since it’s easier to go with a friend.  I didn’t eat any breakfast before we left, and she only had a yogurt. We went through the 30 minute full body workout with no problem. I was feeling a little tired, but nothing I couldn’t handle. So I agreed to do some cardio on my beloved elliptical. (There is no sarcasm there, I really do love the elliptical, I wish I had more stamina for it) It was there that the problem started. I began burning calories that I hadn’t actually taken in that day. And my body began to revolt. As I was hitting the 10minute mark, I started to struggle, big time. But then on my Ipod came on the most wonderful song. It has become my theme song. It’s my go to song when I need to push through. Actually this song is a mash-up of two songs. It is performed by the cast of Glee.  It is a mix of  Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” and Usher’s ” Confessions pt 2.” But Bon Jovi’s lyrics that kept me moving.

It’s my life, It’s now or never, I ain’t gonna live forever, I just wanna live while I’m alive

Those lyrics spoke to me. They have now become my motto. It is also where I got the title for this blog. Because it is now or never. There is no reason for not to start this journey now. Why wait. Life will continue on. The question then is, do I want to watch it pass me buy, or do I want to get up and be apart of it.

So here is to my new beginning. Here’s to the last day of being 259.6 pounds. Here is to my NOW.

And here’s hoping that Day 2 is easier than Day 1
